Enlighten us on what reading material you are indulging yourself with at the moment. I am just finishing up John Wyndham's Day of the Triffids. I have an obsession with End of the Civilised World novels so it was a must, plus my Pop always goes on about it. Its quite average but the message is quite clear. 'dont go blind lol' Nah, but I'll go into it further when I review it. On my way home I was browsing in Books etc. for my next conquest. I had hoped to find Watership Down but I had to settle with The Picture of Dorian Gray. :( I miss Boilermakers. So tell me.

It's about a woman whose home is taken over and used as a hospital for wounded soldiers after one of the civil war battles. Not really that great - probably why it was in the bargain bin but I can't resist historical fiction novels.

I'm trying to start I Am Legend, but I want to finish monster first. sigh I just thought a suggestion maybe...it would be nice to filter your collections by "Reading/Read/Unread" (almost typed "Undead"...) I'm just so forgetful. Like now, I just went to my books, and there were 2 that I had marked "reading" that I finished months ago.

I've been finding it an engrossing read and I can see where the movie gets lots of its cleverness. When I try to look smart I've been reading bits and pieces of the Complete Short Stories of Mark Twain. I'm always reading a book full of short stories for variety. It eases the pain of the longer engrossing novel. And when it gets tiresome I switch to the longer stories.

I'm planning to read Les Miserables (which has been sitting in my 'to read' pile for a month) and reread Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman during my airplane/airport escapades next week.

They could become two different threads with the same info. (Though I guess the last would include more info on whether one liked it or not).

And while technically it isn't since for all we know with your moderator powers you can delete this one and force everyone to that one but... I digress. And 'sides in the thread I was referring to you put down the book you were currently reading anyway. Currently reading "Choke" by Chuck Palahniuk. Ugh, this man is a genius!

Click on the "Watched" menu and set it to your preference - "Unread" or "reading".

The 10th of the Nick Stone series of novels and My Five Cambridge Friends by Yuri Modin. A very interesting first hand account of the KGB 5 spy ring written by their KGB overseer.

And the other is kind of a childs book that I'm reading to my younger siblings, but I enjoy it. It's a Goosebumps book called Ghost Camp by R.L. Stine. Edit: I take that back, it's not Ghost Camp. I am planning on reading that book with the kids but right now, I'm reading Welcome to Camp Nightmare.

(I read the descript, it seems odd to me) I also found the book I had started but never finished... called Montgomery I think And I am trying to locate a copy of The Loop, because I have only read about 100 pages of it, and it is interesting

I've always been put off by its dull sounding title but its proving to be a pretty near perfect Post-Apocalyptic novel. The descriptions perfectly and with ease paint 1960/70's stylised film imagery within my head.(Which is nice even if no-one else shares this view.) The book is filled with scientific/social/moral and practical explanations supplied just as the brain begins to wonder. This so far has covered all of the pitfalls and grey areas that could have made the book seem improbable and the plot flawed. The result has been a spine chilling, plausible and richly visual account of what may lie ahead when the end of man dawns.
